The Purpose of a Face Mask

A plastic surgical face mask is commonly worn by medical professionals during medical procedures. It is designed primarily to prevent infection in patients and helping medical staff treating staff to deal with germs and airborne droplets from the patient’s mouth and nostrils.

When a plastic surgeon determines that a patient does require a mask, then they will perform the procedure. The mask will be placed over the nose and the face is covered. After the procedure, the plastic surgeon will place bandages on the face to protect the areas from infection.

During the surgical mask the doctor will place a sterile cannula directly into the nostril. Once the surgeon makes contact with the nose, he will insert his hands under the patient’s chin and around to the top of the ear. He will then push the mask into the nostril, creating an airtight seal. He will then repeat the process on the other side of the face. This can be repeated as many times as needed.

If the plastic surgeon feels the patient is at increased risk for getting an infection or that he may need to change the color of the plastic surgical mask to one that is more appealing to the patient, then he may. ask the patient to wear a disposable plastic surgical face mask for a time before surgery. This allows him to adjust the color and make the patient feel comfortable wearing the mask before the surgical procedure.

In most cases, the face mask will be removed by the surgeon after the surgery is performed. After the procedure, the plastic surgeon will remove the bandages and allow the patient to rinse his face off. A clean cloth will be used to wipe the area around the nostrils. After the entire area is rinsed, the plastic surgeon will use sterile cotton swabs to scrape the area to remove any excess tissue. and then clean the area with alcohol.

The surgeon will cover the nose and the face with a surgical dressing for about six weeks after the surgery. The patient will have to keep the plastic surgery face mask in his mouth and nose for about twenty-four hours after the procedure to prevent the patient from breathing in the nasal mucus. This will prevent the infection from spreading throughout the body of the patient.
