UCC Middle School Youth Group Meetings
As the parent volunteer for the UCC middle school group, Robin Nielsen-Cerquone is helping again this year to coordinate the weekly meetings with May. They will again be held on Thursdays, beginning on Thursday, September 9 (the week after Labor Day weekend).
This year we will have a few small changes in how it works. It will run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, and the kids will not share a dinner. Instead we will ask one parent each week to bring some kind of snack the kids can share (popcorn, cheese and crackers, fruit, dessert, pretzels, whatever -- Robin will be coordinating that later, after we get started, so don't worry about it now). This will give May more time for her infamous running-around-the-church games, and hopefully give working parents and kids with after-school sports a bit more time to get to the church.
For those of you who are new to the group, here are some answers to the questions most frequently asked:
- You don't have to commit to coming every week. A core of kids comes most of the time, some kids come as much as they can, and others drop in from time to time. Everyone is welcome. Kids don't have to be part of the church to take part.
- May is fantastic. She has worked at UCC summer camps and this summer worked at Flathead Lutheran Camp. She is active in Emmaus Campus Ministry and regularly attends our church.
- May plans the group so that part of the evening focuses on spiritual themes and the rest on the fun of being together. They regularly play sardines, a game I don't understand called ninjas, and relay races involving chewing frozen bubble gum. It is very loud and sounds really fun.
When the new youth director is hired, he or she will take some role in this group, but May will continue to lead it.
So we hope to see a bunch of you on September 9. Until then, please email or call (543-1247) if you have any questions at all. This will be great!

GOOD STUFF WE DID!
Thank you
The annual middle school homecoming bake sale was a great success. Thanks to all for participating and especially Dave Scheel and Linda Tawney who opened Great Harvest Bakery for baking Friday night! This fund raiser provides the cash for all the middle school events during the year.
